José Mariano Moziño's account of the Nootka expedition describes the Indian civilization, their social life and customs, their dwellings, government, religious beliefs, natural resources, and trade. He also comments on the explorations of James Colnett, Robert Gray, William Douglas, and John Kendrick, as well as the seizure by the Spanish of the Argonaut, Princess Royal, and the Portuguese ship Iphigenia, and the Spanish-English conflict over the seizures.
